Single Skillet Herbed Halal Steak & Potatoes

Try this single skillet halal steak recipe with potatoes for an easy halal steak dinner at home that has a bold flavour. Best of all you'll only have to wash up a single pan after you've cleaned up your plate!

What you need:

  • Halal Sirloin Steaks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Baby potatoes sliced about 1/2 inch in thickness
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme chopped
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary chopped
  • 1 teaspoon oregano chopped
  • Salt and pepper
Garlic Butter Compound:
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano chopped

    How to make it:

    • Par boil the cut potatoes for around 5 minutes and drain
    • In a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil and butter, potatoes, garlic, thyme, rosemary and oregano. Cook for about 5/6 minutes, stir and cook an additional 3 minutes or until the potatoes start crisping up Remove and set on a plate.
    • Turn the skillet or pan to high heat. Add the halal steaks. Cook on each side for 3 minutes or until outside is browned. Reduce heat to medium high. Cook the steaks to desired doneness - Click here to see timings for different steak doneness
    • Right before the steaks are done, make the garlic butter compound. Mix the butter, garlic and fresh chopped herbs. Slather on top of steaks. Add the potatoes back to the pan and heat through and let the butter melt into the steaks and potatoes. Turn the potatoes to coat them with the butter and serve.
